Mission Statement

The Calcutta Boys' School (CBS) with its extension campuses is distinctively a Christian Minority, Anglo-Indian heritage institution under the control and authority of the Calcutta Boys' School Educational Society (CBSES), a registered, non-profit, charitable society of the Bengal Regional Conference of the Methodist Church in India.

Founded in 1877 with the objective of "DEI MUNDUS DEO" (the world of God: for God), the Calcutta Bops' Schools, are committed to nurturing proactive global citizens, irrespective of caste, creed or community, by disseminating quality and holistic education and promotion of literature, arts, science and Christian ethics

Very much Indian and very much Christian, Calcutta Boys' School envisages development of personality and character, through Christian values and ethics, as expressed in the Beatitudes, and summed up in the virtues of love, sincerity, justice, equality and liberty. We therefore expect all associated persons to enthusiastically co-operate in our Total Personality Development Programme (TPDP) for the realisation of the full potential of each child.

This means the study, development, instilling and practice of those

1.Moral and Spiritual values (based on Christian scriptures), which are fundamental for the building of all true Character in each individual.

2.Social values, which make for good Citizenship, not only within the confines of the School and its campus but also in the greater life of the social community beyond the School. The School day ends with the ringing of the "Bell for dismissal" but the Discipline and the Idealism of Calcutta Boys' School is endless

3.Cultural values such as Politeness, Neatness, Cleanliness, and Punctuality etc., which characterise a gentleman

4.Nationalistic virtues of love pride and reverence for the rich heritage and cultural plurality of our motherland India, synergised with a deep admiration for one's own ethnic milieu: the quintessence of being a proud Indian

5.Constructive Attitudes such as responsibility, self- reliance, willpower, grit and determination, that lead to a great career, and save the child from being just another wage earner in the economy of life.
