The Calcutta Boys School was founded by the Revd. James Mills Thoburn, one of the dedicated Missionaries of the Methodist Heritage in the year 1877. The School has completed 147 years of its glorious services in the field of Education in India. The History of the Methodist Movement in India gives us amazing information about wonderful leaders and services of the Methodist Heritage. The Calcutta Boys School is one of the remarkable milestones of the wonderful services rendered to our nation by the Methodist Church. The Calcutta Boys School has extended its services by opening branches in Asansol, Beliaghata, and Sonarpur. The School, through all these units, continues to serve the common people in taking care of their educational needs. Today, on one hand, we are blessed with advancement of science and technology; on the other hand, we are challenged with new material concepts. I believe that the Methodist Church through its institutions has a challenging task in this postmodern world. It has to play a significant role in shaping of the lives and thoughts of young people to face these challenges and make them better human beings and citizens of our Nation.
